B MAGICAL – FAIRY TALE CASTLE
Looking at these photos you may think you are looking at images from one of the many popular fantasy films out there today, think Lord of the Rings or Snow White, when really you’re looking at Germany’s stunning Neuschwanstein Castle. The castle was built in the late 1800’s and was opened to the public in 1886, as it was originally supposed to be a retreat for King Ludwig the 2nd of Bavaria, but he died before it was ever completed. These breath taking photos show only a small amount of the impact the castle has, not only in size but [...]

B Inspired – Birth of a Book
With traditional methods of printing and craftsmanship being more and more hard to come by nowadays, it’s always refreshing to see a process that harks back to ‘the good ol’ days’. The video below is a short vignette of a book being created using traditional printing methods. Made for the Daily Telegraph, film maker, Glen Milner captures the fascinating and almost mesmeric processes of Suzanne St. Albans’ book – ‘Mango and Mimosa’ being printed and made-up at Smith-Settle Printers in Leeds, England. www.julesb.co.uk

B ADVENTUROUS: BUENOS AIRES – POLO & PANTOMIME
This week in Jules B H/O we’ve been travel lusting over a place famous for its unique blend of cosmopolitan culture, friendly Porteños, delicious food and buzzing nightlife. There’s nowhere quite like Buenos Aires, Argentina… As the largest city and capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires sits on the western shores of the estuary of the Rio de la Plata, but from photographs you probably wouldn’t immediately place its buildings as South American. Instead the city is renowned for its European style architecture due to historically, the high number of Italian immigrants, and rich cultural life where one minute you’ll find [...]

B Active – ViPR
Invented by Michol Dalcourt, an expert in human movement and a trainer to Olympic gold medal athletes, the ViPR is the new craze in exercise gadgets. The long pipe like gadget also referred to as “The Swiss Army Knife” is made out of rubber and already has 9000 exercises devised for it; it can be carried, dragged, thrown, flipped, stepped on and rolled to name but a few. The ViPR (Vitality, Performance and Reconditioning) mimics the utility of other exercise tools such as the barbell, dumbbell, kettlebell, stability ball, medicine ball, balance device and speed ladder. As seen on TV’s [...]

B Amazed – Matchbook Canvas
Artist Krista Charles (or X-A as she calls herself on her Etsy online shop) creates detailed landscapes sketched into the back of matchbooks using graphite pencils. Charles inherited her matchbooks from her grandfather-in-law after he was downsizing from his family home, her inspiration comes from the history surrounding the matchbook itself, researching the location of where the matchbook has come from on Google Maps, she then sketches a detailed drawing of the view from Google Street View. Her matchbook sketches take around two hours each to complete, but the beauty about her pieces is the story that surrounds them. Some businesses [...]
