UK fashion was celebrated in all of its glory last night at the annual British Fashion Awards at the swanky Savoy Hotel. Over the years the industries ‘Oscars’ has become a smorgusbord of the fash world’s most powerful players and this year’s extravanza certainly didn’t disapoint.
Girl power was in full swing with Sarah Burton, Stella Mcartney and (co-creator of girl power) Victoria Beckham walking home with the three most prestigious awards.
VB sobbed and she recieved the ‘Designer Brand of the Year’ award from her close confident Marc Jacobs telling her peers: “I’m so sorry for crying. This is really rubbish of me. I am so nervous, this means so much to me.”
Creative Director of Alexander Mcqueen, Sarah Burton had her cake and ate it by nabbing the ‘Designer of the Year’ award and Stella Mcartney took home the ‘Red Carpet’ award whilst newly crowned queen of prints, Mary Katrantzou was honoured with the ‘Emerging Talent gong’.
Guests at the event included every fashionista on the style stratosophere. From designers, to models, to bloggers; all attendees took no prisioners in the outfit stakes.
