Fashion’s most talked about Red Carpet Event took place this week, showcasing a hard edge and plenty of sharp attitude as New York’s annual Met Ball embraced this year’s feisty theme – Punk: Chaos to Couture.
Hosted by Vogue and attended by the celebrity A-list, fashion industry experts and designers alike, the 2013 Met Gala celebrated the launch of the Metropolitan Museum’s new Punk exhibition, promoting the movements influence on high fashion and trends for over 40 years. Displaying original creations from Vivienne Westwood and Zandra Rhodes, the exhibition progresses to feature recent collections influenced by Punk including Christian Dior, Alexander McQueen, Chanel and Burberry amongst more!
Getting into the spirit of things, this year’s guests were keen to unleash their inner rebel, with Anne Hathaway and Miley Cyrus in particular summing up the look in an effortlessly high fashion way. Sarah Jessica Parker and Madonna both wowed in cut-away creations with a bold tartan theme, whilst Sienna Miller and Cara Delevinge plumbed for Burberry studded chic with a glamorous rock ‘n’ roll edge. Christina Ricci and Lily Cole both arrived in full Vivienne Westwood couture, with Cole making her entrance with Westwood and her husband Andreas.
Stunning with mohican headpieces, leather jackets and safety pin embellishment, here’s a selection of our favourite looks from this year’s event…
