London Collections: Men

Blog 20/06/2013 4:09 PM

Celebrating the very best of British menswear, the fashion elite descended upon the capital this week to view the best dressed and highly anticipated shows at London Collections: Men. With sharp tailoring, brogues, trench coats and three piece suits well and truly establishing London on the style map, these iconic designs have ensured that London is a constant front runner in international men’s fashion - and LC:M, now in its third year, celebrates this perfectly. Showcasing the up and coming trends of Spring/Summer 2014, Dolce & Gabbana kick started the event, which boasts runway shows from the likes of Paul Smith, Burberry Prorsum, Tom Ford, Christopher Kane and Alexander McQueen, amongst more Jules B favourites. So here’s a quick review of the latest looks you must know about…

Burberry Prorsum

Influenced by art verses the intellect, Burberry clashed vivid colour with relaxed tailoring to create a playful twist to their Spring Summer 14 collection.  Quirky and kitsch whilst all importantly quintessentially English, Burberry Prorsum combined eye popping footwear, polka dot pattern and vibrant eye wear to create a strong 1950′s summer look.

John Smedley

Heavily inspired by sportswear that has been at the heart of the brand since the 1900′s, the S/S 14 John Smedley collection was versatile and classic. Featuring timeless polo’s, t-shirts and crews to be dressed up with sharp tailoring or dressed down with knitted sweats or shorts, John Smedley nostalgically transported the wearer back to a High School gymnasium.  Hackett

Focusing on designing for the sharp English gent, the Hackett Spring/Summer 14 collection offered a smart summer wardrobe with a nod to sportswear and cricket. Combining classic tailoring with soft knits and lightly printed scarves, Hackett embraced pastel colours and subtle checks for a distinct nod to quirky British heritage and tea on the lawn. Paul Smith

Showcasing his British collection on Saville Row, Paul Smith exhibited a range of ten suits made in collaboration with the Yorkshire based Clissold Mills. Mixing enlarged checks and pinstripes with Union Jacks and St Georges flags, this collection used classic British fabrics to create contemporary slim fit jackets and suits, all with the signature Paul Smith sharp, tailored aesthetic.
