B ADVENTUROUS – LAS VEGAS NEON SIGNS & VALLEY OF FIRE
As the summer holiday season is fast approaching, at Jules B H/O this week we’ve been thinking about a sneaky alternative to a beach break. Las Vegas isn’t just a place for a stag do or a makeshift wedding. Nevada just got chic… As the largest city in Nevada, Las Vegas certainly enjoys the nickname of ‘Entertainment Capital of the World’, as after the state legalised gambling in 1931, this desert surrounded small settlement grew steadily to the bustling neon mecca it is today. In less than 20 years, the construction of the famous Hoover Dam and Flamingo Hotel brought both [...]

B ADVENTUROUS- JAIPUR-FESTIVAL OF COLOUR & ELEPHANT POLO
This week in Jules B HQ we’re thinking about far flung adventures and must see events from across the globe. In need of a little inspiration? Read on to be inspired by vibrant Jaipur… Jaipur, AKA ‘The Pink City’, the capital of Rajashan, India. Originally coloured pink to imitate the red sandstone buildings of Mughal cities, it was later repainted an earthy red in 1876 to welcome Prince Albert to its metropolitan streets. It’s a city of tradition, where all residents are literally compelled by law to preserve the colour of its buildings. One corner of ‘The Golden Triangle’ alongside Delhi [...]

Are you mad for Mad Men? We are!
Over the past four years, a new phenomenon has hit the television world in the form of hit show Mad Men. Written by the critically acclaimed Matthew Weiner, it’s a multi award winning show that has managed to bag four Golden Globes and thirteen Emmy Awards. A controversial portrayal that follows the life of New York based advertising company, Sterling Cooper Draper Price. Focusing on the escapades of creative director and partner, Don Draper along with colleagues at the Madison Avenue based ad agency, the show highlights the sexy style, office conflicts, and the sheer provocative nature of city life [...]

United We Stand
With the tragic events unfolding up and down the country, we could all benefit from reverting back to some traditional old fashion values, to a decade where family and friends were important and a sense of community pride was evident no matter what end of the social spectrum you were part of. Many people have an idea that the 1950s was a post-war bleakness, where restrictions were placed on everything from food to fashion. But the decade should be seen as a celebration of everything great about Britain; the war was over, there was an end to rationing and community [...]

Forever 27 – ‘Live Fast, Dress Well’
Set up to mark the huge contributions made to popular culture, the ‘Forever 27 Club’ celebrates the lives and work of over 30 musicians and artists throughout time, who have tragically (and mysteriously) succumb at the age of just 27. Whilst touching on quite a morbid notion, the romantic rock ‘n’ roll ethic of ‘live fast – die young’ could not be more relevant. The deaths of some of the world’s greatest musicians at the age of 27 has created a dark mystery and intrigue, what is a sure fact however, is how these incredible icons changed popular culture forever. [...]

The Chronicle Covers the Jules B SS11 Charity Fashion Show
LOOKING good and doing good – Tyneside fashionistas took to the catwalk for charity. Models strutted their stuff for a charity fashion show to reveal the styles Newcastle’s trendiest dressers will be pulling on this summer. Quirky, alternative and colourful were the main themes visible in the clothes, cocktails and canopes on offer at the Jesmond bar As You Like It . All the proceeds from the night were going to the Chronicle’s Sunshine Fund, to help sick and disabled children in the North East. The summertime showcase had originally been intended to coincide with Newcastle Fashion Week, but missed [...]
